Seam quality control

Teranap's Seam quality control is provided by mainly non-destructive testing of the welds or at locations on the surface, in accordance with ASTM D4437 Section 4.2.

This involves the use of an air pressure hose along the welds to identify any areas of weakness which are then marked and subsequently patched and retested. A vacuum bell can also be used for non-destructive testing.

Welds can be destructively tested by subjecting them to tensile shear stress testing.

Recent developments allow the option of non-destructive air-channel testing as is normally performed with HDPE and PVC geomembranes.

Regardless of the form of testing used, it is important to have the quality control and testing carried out by a qualified engineer who is familiar with the manufacturers recommendations, applicable standards and testing methodology.
